Each year the Golden Key Music Festival of Vienna includes a rich variety of musical, artistic, and cultural experiences in addition to its concerts and awards ceremonies. The combination of great music, beautiful historic surroundings, and the company of people who share a dedication to music makes for an unique and unforgettable time.
Vienna Tour 2017:
Wednesday August 2 – Explore Old Vienna
Morning: Arrive at IBIS WIEN HAUPTBAHNHOF. This comfortable hotel is just built and would be opened to guests in July 2017. Its address is Canettistrasse 8, 1100 Wien. All rooms are air-conditioned. Breakfast is included.
Afternoon 5:00 PM: Take a guided walking tour through the central part of the Old City, including Stephansplatz, Mozarthaus, St. Michael’s Church, the Hofburg Palace, the Mozart Memorial, and the Vienna State Opera House.
Thursday August 3 – “Welcome to Vienna” Concerts
Morning 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Practice at the distinguished Prayner Conservatory, Muhlgasse 28-30.
Afternoon 3:00 PM: Attend the Festival’s Gala- Concert featuring our winners and guest-artists follow by Award Ceremony at the famous Ehrbar Hall and reception.
Evening 8:00 PM: You are welcome to the recital at Ehrbar Hall featuring winners of the DEBUT International Piano Competition.
Friday August 4 – Explore the Music of Today
Morning 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Take Master Classes with Professors Carol Morgan, Sung Suk Kang, Stephan Möller and others at the Prayner Conservatory.
Afternoon 3:00 PM: Visit the Haus der Musik, the world’s largest interactive music discovery museum.
Evening 6:30 PM: Attend the World Composers’ Concert at Ehrbar Hall followed by the composers’ Award Ceremony. Guest-artists include young musicians from all over the world, winners of the Golden Key Music Festival Piano Composition Competition, 2017.
Morning 10:00 AM: Take a guided tour of the Mozarthaus Vienna (Domgasse 5), the best known of the places where Mozart lived and worked.Morning 11:30 AM: Attend a musical exposition “Mozart in Context” given by Festival guest-artists at the Bösendorfer Hall at Mozarthaus. The program will feature the music of Mozart’s teachers, friends, rivals and followers. Evening 6:30 PM: Take a guided walking tour of some of the oldest surviving streets in Vienna followed by Organ music recital at St. Michael Church at 8:00 PM. The Baroque Time music will be performed on Sieber organ built in 1714. It’s a biggest Baroque time organ in Vienna. Josef Haydn performed on it. First performance of Mozart’s Requiem took place here in 1792.
Sunday August 6 – Tales of Vienna Woods: Beethoven’s Baden and Lichtenstein Castle
Day 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Take the guided bus tour to a beautiful resort Baden and attend one of the world best Beethoven’s museums located in the house where Beethoven composed his famous Ninth Symphony. Attend guided excursion to the Lichtenstein Castle at Vienna Woods, one of the oldest survived medieval castles in Europe.
Evening 8:00 PM: Ehrbar Hall. Piano duet Stephan Möller and Kaori Saeki will perform for us L.van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in transcription of F. Liszt. In the recital we will listen to notable Austrian baritone Gunther Zerbes with Schumann’s songs.
Monday August 7 – Mozart and Salzburg
Morning 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM: Take a bus trip to Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace. Enjoy the views of the alpine landscape and crystalline mountain lakes on the way.
Once in Salzburg, attend the guided excursion via famous Music University Mozarteum including it’s glorious Grossersaal; take a guided walking tour through the Old Town, marketplace, local cathedrals, and memorials to Mozart, Michael Haydn, Herbert von Karajan, and other prominent artists.
Visit Salzburg sites made famous in the movie, The Sound of Music.
Day 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Take a bus trip to Eisenstadt, picturesque old town at the foot of the Austrian Low Alps, the home town of Josef Haydn for almost 32 years. Visit Esterhazy Palace with its famous Haydn Hall and Haydn Holographic Museum. Enjoy a walking tour of the medieval streets, marketplace, parks, and other sites which would have been frequented by Haydn.
Evening: 7:00 PM: We invite you to Ehrbar Hall to our 10-anniversary Gala-Concert featuring guest-artists Vyacheslav Gryznov, Anna Pavlova and others. The Concert will be followed by farewell champagne reception.
Wednesday August 9 – Departure
Last Day: Depart for home or other destinations. Auf Wiedersehen!
